Why Bananai exists

We are a small team of people who love video games and entertainment, and who think a good game is a piece of craft, as worth doing well as a song or a short story. It does not need to be huge to be good. A solitaire that deals cleanly, a brick breaker whose ball bounces exactly where you expected, a puzzle that makes you think for ten minutes on the bus: small games made with care are what we want to play, so they are what we want to publish.

Bananai is where we put them. Every game here is free, runs in your browser on a computer or a phone, and asks for nothing before you play: no account, no download, no app store.

Where the games come from

Some of the games are ours, written from scratch. The classics are among them: solitaires, draughts, minesweeper, 2048. Their rules belong to everyone, and we wanted versions that feel good on a touch screen. The others come from independent developers who build original games and send them to us.

Every game, ours included, goes through the same review before it is published. We play it, and we run automated checks on it:

• it loads and fills its space at phone, tablet and desktop sizes;
• the page does not scroll or jump while you play;
• it contacts nothing outside this site, so it does not track you or pull in third-party content;
• it works with touch, and with a mouse and keyboard where that makes sense.

Every game page describes that game in full, with the rules, tips and controls, so you know what you are opening before you open it.

What we will not do

No walls. No game is locked behind a signup, a payment or a subscription.

No interruptions mid-game. Bananai is paid for by advertising. An ad may appear when you leave a game, at a natural pause such as the end of a level, or when a game offers you something extra in exchange, such as a second chance. It never cuts into the action while you are playing. When an ad is offered in exchange for something, you can always say no and carry on.

No advertising cookies without your consent. You choose what you accept. The details are in our privacy policy and cookie policy.

For game developers

If you make browser games and would like to publish them here, everything you need is in the developer documentation: the rules a game must follow, a starter project, and how submissions are reviewed.
